Stuffed cheese bread with Prima Donna maturo

Ingredients

  • 1 large, rustic loaf of bread
  • 150 g Prima Donna maturo, grated
  • 50 g unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 spring onions, finely chopped

Description

  1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C (356˚F).
  2. Cut the bread into a grid pattern, slicing deeply but not all the way through the bottom. The bread should remain intact.
  3. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and add the garlic. Let it simmer briefly.
  4. Use a brush to generously spread the garlic butter between the slices of bread. Distribute the grated cheese evenly between all the cuts. Wrap the bread in aluminum foil.
  5. Bake the bread in the oven for about 30 minutes until everything is well melted. Then remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until the cheese starts to bubble and turns golden brown.
  6. Serve with the chopped spring onions.
